How To: Narrow Rolled Hem on Brother 1034D Serger | SEWING REPORT

Jennifer Moore here with the Sewing
Report back with another serger demonstration we’re going to be doing a
narrow rolled edge or hem in this video and here is your list of settings for
the rolled hem it’s actually not as difficult as I thought it would be
though so the first thing you have to do is set your differential feed at point
seven to zero your knife at three to five and your stitch length that are
your right needle is at 4.0 upper looper at five and lower looper at seven
alright Here I am removing the stitch finger you do have to remove the left
needle but I did notice that I did not have to rethread the machine I just had
to take the needle out and then snip that left thread so it didn’t get in the
way and I noticed when I switched it back to my regular 4 thread 2 needle
setting I also did not have to rethread the machine I just had to pull that
string down then and re thread the needle alright Here I am switching the foot
back to the normal foot alright and Here I am using some woven
cotton fabric it was super easy and it created that very nice like napkin edge
finish isn’t that beautiful and if you use a woolly nylon in your
lower looper you can get more of a filled-in edge there too you

  1. I'm definitely going to try this out because this is what I've been trying to figure out how to do. Thanks so much for this video.

  2. Good job Jennifer. Nice and short. I didn't know that Brother made sergers. That was done on a woven. Maybe the same demo on various fabrics would be helpful too. Did you need to balance the threads on that serger?

  3. Awesome did not know it could do that! Now if I can just get it out of the box 😂 hopefully Saturday I’ve only had my serger since November 😂

  4. So glad that you posted this video! I've been trying for so long to get this to work on my machine and it finally does!!

  5. awesome! b/c i freakin hate hemming!!! I seriously won't sew b/c i know at the end I have to hem hahahah

  6. Wow I didn’t realize how easy this was! Though I need to try it hahaha!! I’m excited I’m getting a server for my bandana business and can’t wait!! Can you talk more about serger threads ? I like that filled edge but why wooly nylon?
