Yarn bobbin for weaving – Weaving lessons for beginners

Let me show you how to wind a yarn bobbin by hand These are also known as butterfly bobbins. Take the end of the yarn and draw it across your left palm as shown leaving an end of about 4 inches hanging between your middle and ring fingers Wind the yarn around your thumb in a clockwise direction then back towards you little finger Wind the yarn around your little finger in an anti-clockwise direction Repeat these two steps making sure you do not cross the threads over each other so that they remain neatly stacked on each other. Finish the winding after about 10 rounds ending on your little finger. Allowing about 4 inches, cut the yarn Take the threads off your left hand and wind around and tie a loose knot around all the threads with the end of the yarn you have just cut. Pull the yarn from the other end when using the yarn bobbin. That is, the end that was resting behind your hand when you were winding the bobbin.
